Paranjpe was inducted in Shiv Sena to stop him from joining MVA; NCP was kept in loop: Samant

Minister Uday Samant. | Mr. Paranjpe on Thursday (May 14, 2026) resigned from the NCP helmed by Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, and later joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Both the NCP and the Shiv Sena are part of the ruling Mahayuti in Maharashtra along with the BJP.Addressing a press conference on Friday (May 15, 2026), Mr. Samant said Mr. Paranjpe, a two-time MP who represented the Shiv Sena from Thane and Kalyan Lok Sabha constituencies, was inducted into the Shiv Sena to ensure that he does not enter any Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) party. "We were of the opinion that Anand Paranjpe should not enter any MVA party," the Shiv Sena leader said."When we decided to induct Mr. Paranjpe into Shiv Sena, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde tried to call NCP president Sunetra Pawar, but she was in an event and they could not talk immediately," he said.“After that the party tried to contact NCP MP Parth Pawar, but could not get through to him. Then, his younger brother Jay Pawar was contacted and he was informed about the Mr. Paranjpe's induction into the Shiv Sena,” the Minister added."The NCP leaders were informed because we did not want any misunderstanding within the Mahayuti,," Mr. Samant noted.Mr. Paranjpe, son of veteran Shiv Sena leader late Prakash Paranjpe, had quit the Shiv Sena in 2012 and joined the NCP. He sided with late Ajit Pawar after the latter joined the Mahayuti government in July 2023, which also led to a split within the NCP.Mr. Paranjpe had won the Thane Lok Sabha constituency by-election in 2008 as a Shiv Sena candidate following his father's death. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected from the Kalyan seat in the district from the party.He, however, lost the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Kalyan to undivided Shiv Sena's Shrikant Shinde. It’s also a great idea to get all the fast bowlers for this event, because amongst cricketers, this is one lot which is the most injury-prone,” he said, adding, “we would like all sports to benefit from this. In fact, I’ll be proposing that we ask the Telangana Olympic Association to enter into a formal agreement with you.”SRH captain Pat Cummins drew from his own experiences while underlining the importance of specialised sports medicine facilities for professional athletes.“I’ve had quite a few injuries like most fast bowlers, mainly back injuries, stress fractures. To be honest, without a place like this, a very high caliber of care over the years, I definitely wouldn’t be in the position that I am right now,” he said.“But it’s constant because they are mainly bone injuries, it’s screening and monitoring until you get it up to a level where you feel like you can start building up and get ready for the high intensity that an IPL match needs,” he said.Harkaran Singh, chief operating officer of Apollo Hospitals, said the centre brings together a multi-disciplinary team of specialists aimed at ensuring faster recovery and improved outcomes for patients. Dinesh Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that confidential performance reports for Revenue Department employees will be processed online starting this year, relieving staff of the burden of submitting physical copies at the time of promotion. The Minister announced this while inaugurating a two-day State-level sports event organised by the Village Administrative Officers’ (VAO) Association in Shivamogga on Friday.Currently, employees’ performance is reviewed annually by seniors, who then submit confidential reports. These reports must be produced by employees when applying for promotion. “Many employees find it difficult to obtain physical copies of their annual confidential reports in time for promotion.
