Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to him and a few other cabinet ministers. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with a slew of prominent personalities from the entertainment and political domains. During the event, Trisha was seen greeting Shoba and even sharing a brief hug as both smiled widely before taking their respective seats. The actor, who arrived for the event donning a blue saree, was accompanied by her mother, Uma Krishnan. It wasn’t just the presence of his rumoured girlfriend that sparked discussion on social media, but also the absence of his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, and their children, Jason Sanjay and Dhivya Sasha. For the unversed, Sangeetha filed for divorce in February this year, alleging that Vijay is involved in an extramarital affair. Nonetheless, their joint appearances have only fuelled the rumours, with her presence at the swearing-in ceremony amid the absence of Vijay’s wife and children rendering the picture clearer. What CM Vijay said during swearing-in ceremony While addressing the gathering after taking the oath as Chief Minister, Vijay said, “Nobody should even think that now that we have come to power, we can go on a rampage. Do not even keep such ideas in mind. Clear it off. There will be only one power centre, that is me.” He added, “I am like your son, your brother. You gave me a place in your hearts.” On the occasion, he also signed three files: 200 units of free electricity for domestic consumers, a special force for women’s safety with a helpline, and a statewide anti-drug mechanism.

A film that never made it to theatres, never completed its shoot, and yet sits in her memory with more clarity than projects she has actually finished and moved on from. In an old conversation with Galatta Plus, Trisha recalled the Marmayogi days “crystal clear.” Even now, every time she crosses paths with Kamal Haasan after a gap, her first question to him is about Marmayogi. Co-producer Pyramid Saimira ran into severe financial trouble and walked away from the project in November 2008, pulling the plug on a production that was estimated to cost close to Rs 100 crore and take two years to complete. Kamal Haasan later made clear that he had given a full year to Marmayogi, gone through detailed preparations, had sets constructed and even completed portions of the shoot before the money dried up. Trisha’s role in Marmayogi For Trisha, none of that preparation felt wasted. She learned archery for the role. She trained in horse riding. The team went through long rehearsals, and there was a photoshoot she still speaks about with visible warmth. But more than the physical skills, it was the time spent understanding Kamal Haasan as a creative person that left the deepest impression. “That was when I got to know him as an actor, as a mentor, as a friend,” she said, adding, “We had done so much.”Story continues below this ad Trisha found a simple but quietly moving way to describe the whole experience. “Maybe it’s a summer school that I went to and got trained by Kamal and got out of.” There is no self-pity in the way she says it. When she went on to work with Kamal Haasan in Manmadan Ambu, a comedy and a world apart from the 7th century setting of Marmayogi, she walked in carrying everything that earlier chapter had built. As for whether Marmayogi will ever be made, Trisha is careful not to put any weight on it. “I will not even say I hope sir makes the film,” she said.

Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan has indicated that she was not invited to the audio launch of her upcoming film Karuppu, through a series of posts on X. The episode began when Dream Warrior Pictures, the film’s production house, released a 37-second video introducing Trisha’s character Preethi, a lawyer, ahead of the film’s May 14 release. The makers captioned the post: “Introducing PREETHI from Karuppu. She reposted the comment and replied: “Thank you. Even I forgot. Good to know they set a reminder now at least.” The online debate The remark stirred reactions online, which resulted in an response from another user, who asked in Tamil why she was being sarcastic when she had not attended the audio launch herself. Trisha Krishnan then posted: “Guess my invite got lost in the mail.” Triggering an online debate, while Trisha Krishnan didn’t further comment on her response, several fans argued that the film’s female lead should not require a formal invitation to attend a promotional event. Others countered that without being formally included in event planning, attending may not have been an option available to her. A section of users pointed out that Trisha had appeared in the film’s promotional posters and argued that constituted sufficient communication. Her supporters disagreed, maintaining that a poster credit and a direct invitation are not the same thing. Director RJ Balaji, lead actor Suriya, composer Sai Abhyankkar, who also performed live at the event, and most of the supporting cast attended. Trisha Krishnan was absent from that event and had not participated in any of the film’s promotional activities up to that point. During the event, RJ Balaji said, “Trisha could not join the team today, but I thank her a lot. It’s not easy being Trisha, it’s not easy to be on top for 23 years. It’ll be one of her best roles in recent times,” Karuppu is directed by RJ Balaji, who co-wrote the script with Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T.S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar. The film stars Suriya in the lead role, with Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada and Supreeth Reddy in supporting roles. It marks the first on-screen pairing of Trisha Krishnan and Suriya since Aaru in 2005. The film is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on May 14.
