NHA recognises innovators for developing AI systems for healthcare claims processing and fraud detection
Organised in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission and IISc Bengaluru, the hackathon focused on developing solutions to improve speed, transparency and accuracy in claims adjudication, while also strengthening fraud detection.The hackathon received around 3,500 registrations, while more than 600 participants attended masterclasses conducted for students, researchers and start-ups.Winning teamsUnder the category “Clinical Document Classification and Compliance to Standard Treatment Guidelines”, Team Nirnaya, led by Vinay Babu Ulli, won the top prize for developing an AI-based system capable of reading healthcare claim documents and verifying compliance with treatment protocols. Team Khushi Singh and Ronit from IIIT Gwalior secured the runner-up position, while Team Vidal Health finished second runner-up.In the category “Radiological Image-Based Condition Detection and Report Correlation”, Team BiltIQ AI, led by Harish Kumar, emerged winner for its AI-supported radiology interpretation system. Team Kantaka Sodhana secured the runner-up position, while Team Arnold Sachith and Smitha Rao finished third.Under the “Document Forgery/Deepfake Detection”, Team Sopa Claims, led by Praveen Sridhar and Snehal Joshi, won for developing AI systems to detect forged medical documents. Team Forgensic from RGUKT-Nuzvid secured second place, while Team Sushurutha Health AI came third.Cash prizesWinning teams received cash prizes of ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh and ₹2 lakh, respectively. Officials said selected solutions could be considered for future deployment within the AB PM-JAY ecosystem, which processes nearly 50,000 claims daily across more than 1,900 treatment packages.
