The marriage of pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner has brought renewed attention to a relationship that unfolded largely in the public eye over the past two years.Callum Turner-Dua Lipa relationship timelineThe couple officially tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall on 31 May 2026, surrounded by close friends and family members. The wedding, which was kept deliberately low-key, took place ahead of a larger three-day celebration reportedly planned in Palermo, Sicily.Their relationship first entered the spotlight in January 2024, when Lipa attended an after-party linked to Turner’s Apple TV+ drama Masters of the Air. Footage and photographs from the event showed the pair together, sparking immediate speculation that they were dating. Days later, they were photographed on outings in California, further fuelling rumours of a new celebrity romance.Although neither publicly addressed the speculation at the time, the pair continued to appear together throughout the first half of 2024. By spring and summer, they were increasingly visible at social events, concerts and dinners. In May 2024, fans noted subtle references to Turner in Lipa’s social media activity, while subsequent public appearances strengthened assumptions that the relationship had become serious.A significant milestone came in July 2024, when the couple effectively became Instagram official. Shared photographs and public appearances signalled a new phase in the relationship, with the pair appearing increasingly comfortable discussing and acknowledging their romance publicly.By December 2024, engagement rumours began circulating after fans noticed a diamond ring in photographs posted by Lipa. Neither immediately confirmed the speculation, but reports suggested the couple had become deeply committed after less than a year together. The engagement was formally confirmed in June 2025, when Lipa spoke to British Vogue about her relationship with Turner and her excitement about their future together. Discussing the proposal, she said: “Yeah we’re engaged. It’s very exciting.” She also reflected on the meaning of marriage, adding: “This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever — it’s a really special feeling.”During the same period, the couple made a number of high-profile appearances together, including attending major fashion and entertainment events. Their red-carpet appearance at the 2025 Met Gala was widely seen as confirmation of their status as one of the industry's most prominent couples.View full ImageThe much-awaited 2025 Met Gala appearance of Dua Lipa and Callum Turner.Reports also revealed details about how the pair first connected. According to Lipa, they initially met at London’s River Café through mutual friends before reconnecting later in Los Angeles. The singer recalled discovering that they were reading the same book, Hernán Díaz’s Trust, a coincidence that became part of the couple’s widely discussed origin story.Throughout 2025 and into 2026, the couple maintained a relatively private relationship despite intense media interest. They travelled together, attended industry events and gradually integrated their personal and professional lives, with reports suggesting they had also begun collaborating on business ventures.Their relationship reached its latest milestone in May 2026 when they exchanged vows in London. Lipa arrived in a custom Schiaparelli outfit and wide-brimmed hat, while Turner wore a navy suit. The ceremony lasted less than an hour before the newlyweds departed together ahead of their planned celebrations in Sicily. From the first romance rumours in January 2024 to their marriage in May 2026, the couple’s relationship developed over nearly two and a half years, culminating in a wedding that formally united two of Britain’s most recognisable figures in music and film.About the AuthorTrisha BhattacharyaTrisha Bhattacharya is a Senior Content Producer
US President Donald Trump fumed over District Judge Christopher Cooper after he blocked the closure of the Trump-Kennedy Center for renovation, branding him an ‘anti-Trump hater.’ The latest ruling serves as a setback for Trump, who believes the country's court system is rigged.U.S. President Donald Trump fumes after a judge blocked Kennedy Center closure for renovation(REUTERS)A day after a federal judge in Washington, D.C., blocked the renovation of the Kennedy Center, President Donald Trump on Saturday (local time) branded him as "an anti-Trump hater," predicting that the nation's premier performing arts center, which he wanted to close for a two-year overhaul, will “soon be closed, probably never to open again.”In a rather lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump fumed about the Friday ruling from District Judge Christopher Cooper, who also ordered that Trump's name must be removed from the center. Angered at his latest setback, the US President said it was “impossible for me to be treated fairly,” tying Cooper's ruling to earlier losses, including the Supreme Court’s rejection in February of his sweeping tariffs.Federal judge blocks Kennedy Center closure, Trump fumesTrump's remarks against Cooper came a day after the judge blocked the Center's closure for the renovation project and said, "The trustees might have assessed the propriety of closure in a number of prudent ways. This was not one." He also concluded that the Kennedy Center's board "overstepped its statutory bounds" by unilaterally adding Trump's name to the center, noting that Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name and that only Congress has the authority to change it.Earlier in April, Cooper heard parallel lawsuits challenging the project. While one was filed by a group of cultural and historic preservation organisations, the other was brought by Rep. Joyce Beatty, an Ohio Democrat who serves as an ex officio member of the board through her position in Congress. He ruled in favor of Beatty’s request but rejected the other challenge.Additionally, the court gave the center a two-week timeline to remove Trump's name, a move that did not sit well with the US President. Defending his name being added to the Kennedy Center, he said that it was the board, not him, that added the Trump name to the center. "They thought it would be good for this dying Institution."Trump gives up control of Kennedy CenterWhile Trump's post aimed to make the case for the Kennedy Center renovation project, he did not clarify whether he would continue to defend it in court. Hours after the district judge's ruling, Trump said he was backing away from renovations and making arrangements to relinquish control of what, until his second term, had been known as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to Congress.Trump slams Judge Cooper, his wifeSlamming Cooper, the US President noted, "Trump-hating Judge wants to keep it open because his wife probably told him to do so! Cooper’s wife, Amy Jeffress, who doesn’t use the “Cooper” name because they, as a couple, don’t want people to know that she has a Conflict of Interest with an important Judge, is a Radical Left Democrat."He added that Jeffress, a partner at the Hecker Fink law firm, is a former federal prosecutor who served as a counselor to Attorney General Eric Holder during the administration of Democratic President Barack Obama. Cooper was nominated for the bench by Obama.Trump backs renovation projectTrump asserted that the Kennedy Center, named for the late Democratic president and opened in 1971, was “rusted, rotted, and rat and bug-infested” and that the "new Building would have been incomparable." He added, “The marble is in terrible shape, the pipes are gone, the air conditioning and heating systems are 65 years old, and no longer functioning. It was all being torn out to be replaced by brand new Carrier Equipment, at the highest standard.”Trump says US court system is riggedTaking a dig at the US Supreme Court, Trump said
US President Donald Trump suggested replacing artists who withdrew from Washington's US 250th anniversary celebrations with an ‘America Is Back’ rally. His remarks came after several performers pulled out, claiming the event was more political than they had been led to believe.US President Donald Trump suggests that he will make a speech during the country's 250th anniversary event(REUTERS)US President Donald Trump on Saturday (local time) responded to a wave of cancellations by artists slated to perform in Washington for the US’s 250th anniversary by suggesting himself as a better alternative.Trump considers 'America is Back rally'In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate 'Artists,' and give a major speech."He noted that he would rally the country forward and added, "like I have done ever since being President! Two years ago, the United States was DEAD. Now we have the 'HOTTEST' Country anywhere in the World. I don't want so-called 'Artists' that get paid far too much money, who aren't happy. I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN. So, by copy of this TRUTH, I am ordering my Representatives to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday, Washington, D.C., same time, same location."Will Trump make a comeback to outdoor events?Ever since a gunman tried to assassinate Trump during his 2024 campaign event in Butler, Trump has largely avoided large outdoor rallies. In April, his security detail opened fire at the Washington Hilton on a man who authorities say was trying to storm a gala dinner Trump was attending. The announcement from Trump regarding holding a rally in Washington comes at a low point in his popularity, with the war in Iran and rising gas prices among the issues weighing down his approval rating as Republicans fret about the midterm congressional elections.Artists pull out of celebrationsHis remarks came days after at least five of the nine performers pulled out of the shows on the National Mall, shortly after they were announced, stating that the event, beginning on 25 June, was more political than they had been led to believe, Bloomberg reported.Cancellations for the Freedom 250 shows have come from Martina McBride, Young MC, The Commodores, Morris Day and The Time, and Bret Michaels. Several others — C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida — have not announced a change in plans. Vanilla Ice defended the event in a social media video, saying it "is not a political platform."Freedom 250, which is organising the events, is a group described by Trump as a public-private nonprofit that also organised an overtly Christian prayer meeting on 17 May that included a video message from the US President.Freedom 250 releases list of performersAccording to the Freedom250 website, The Great American State Fair will bring together representatives from 56 states and territories in a "World Fair-style celebration" of America's 250th birthday, featuring live entertainment, immersive exhibits, patriotic tributes, innovation showcases, cultural programming and family-friendly attractions stretching from the US Capitol to the Washington Monument. The Great American State Fair will feature mainstage performances by legendary artists every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. In the coming weeks, Freedom 250 will continue to announce more performers, speakers and participants. While it remains unclear whether Trump will ultimately proceed with the proposed "America Is Back" rally, organisers of the Freedom 250 events continue to move forward with the programme, with additio
The United States and India are within a single percentage point of sealing an interim trade agreement, US Ambassador Sergio Gor declared on Friday, placing the two nations at the threshold of a deal that Washington says will cement the most consequential bilateral relationship of the 21st century.India-US Trade Deal: Just One Per Cent Left to FinaliseSpeaking at the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi at an event focused on the US-India TRUST Initiative, Transforming the Relationship Utilising Strategic Technologies, Gor confirmed that an Indian delegation had travelled to Washington the previous week to resolve the remaining outstanding points, and that an American team would arrive in New Delhi shortly to conclude discussions."Our current interim trade agreement is on the table for us to finalise and that will unlock prosperity for both of our countries. Just last week, India had sent a team to Washington DC to finalise the last one per cent of that trade deal," he said."Next week, we will welcome a US delegation here to continue those talks. We fully expect that the trade deal will be signed over the next few weeks and months," he added. The foundation for the interim arrangement was laid in February, when New Delhi and Washington released a joint statement agreeing on a framework for reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade.Bilateral Trade Has Grown Tenfold Over Two DecadesGor placed the imminent agreement within a broader arc of economic expansion, noting that trade in goods and services between the two countries had climbed from 20 billion US dollars to more than 220 billion dollars over the past two decades."Today, the US is one of India's largest trading partners, and India is among the top trading partners of the US. Importantly, this growth is increasingly driven by innovation, investment and high value sectors, from digital trade and advanced manufacturing to energy and emerging technologies," he said.He also framed the trade push as central to the Trump administration's domestic economic agenda."Our investment in trade expansion offers transformative potential. President Trump's goal is to facilitate bilateral trade in a way that creates unprecedented opportunities for American businesses and workers," he said."India's growing economy and significant infrastructure needs align well with American expertise in energy, aviation, R&D, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure," he added.TRUST Initiative: Technology as the Cornerstone of the India-US AllianceThe TRUST framework was launched when President Donald Trump met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the outset of his second term, and is designed to anchor bilateral engagement in the strategic technologies reshaping geopolitics. The Trump administration has formally identified India as one of several "new centres of power" in a reorganised global order, and the initiative reflects that assessment.Gor was unambiguous about the weight both governments place on the partnership."We're gathered at a defining moment, one where critical and emerging technologies are fundamentally reshaping the global balance of power. And I believe no partnership is better positioned to lead that charge than ours," he said."At the same time of this immense transformation, I want us to be ambitious and shape the US-India relationship into the defining strategic partnership of the 21st century -- one that delivers tangible benefits for both of our nations and our people," he said.Critical Minerals Framework: A Strategic Counter to China's Rare Earth ControlsAmong the most significant developments announced around the event was the formalisation of a bilateral cooperation framework on critical minerals, a sector that has gained heightened strategic urgency following China's tightening of export controls on rare earth elements. Gor described the minerals partnership as central to building defence and energy supply chains that are resilient and secure."The message that we want to
