Dhinakaran appeals to TVK government to shut down unauthorised bars

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Monday (June 1, 2026) urged the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that all unauthorised bars were closed down and demanded that action be taken against those selling drugs unlawfully.He made this appeal in light of a teenage girl’s killing in Chennai on Saturday night, after an SUV rammed a two-wheeler she was riding pillion on.Mr. Dhinakaran further criticised the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government for failing to launch a special task force aimed at tackling violence on women.
