Indian students top UK higher educational applications, says official

Indians comprise the largest group of students applying for higher education in the United Kingdom, said UK Deputy High Commissioner (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) Gareth Wynn Owen.In view of the changed global scenario and despite the tighter visa regulations imposed recently, 92% of the applications from global students are positively processed, he said, attributing the same to quality and affordable educational prospects.He was addressing a media conference after inaugurating the Tirupati branch of Academic Overseas Private Limited here on Tuesday, when he spoke on how the UK emerged as the most preferred destination for higher education across the globe.Mr. Owen said several of the prestigious universities in the UK continued to rank among the top institutions in the world. “A student armed with a degree from one of our universities is sure to go farther than his peers in getting a nice placement,” he observed.Representatives from the Middlesex University, University of Hertfordshire, Heriot Watt University, Ulster University, Regent College London, Walbrook Institute London also shared their insights with the participants.TDP leader and young entrepreneur B.V. Keerthi inaugurated the branch along with Mr. Owen, while managing director Anne Sudhir Chowdary, directors Anne Lakshmi, Vasireddy Ramesh, Jorepalli Prudhvi, chief executive officer Dommaraju Hemanth Raju, tech head K.
