After a 25-year gap, families in Muthamma settlement in Idukki get their title deeds

After a 25-year gap, residents of Chinnakkanal village in Idukki have received title deeds for their land. According to officials, 236 families in the Muthamma settlement under Chinnakkanal village were granted the deeds.Chinnakkanal village officer V. Santhosh Kumar stated that while 70 families had previously received their titles during a title deed fest held ahead of the Assembly election, a total of 236 families were eligible. The remaining distributions were delayed following the election notification. “The title deeds, under the 1963 rules, were distributed to the families on Thursday (June 11, 2026),” the official said.According to authorities, there were no legal complications surrounding the issuance of title deeds in the area. The State government took over the land from the Tata Company roughly 50 years ago, and the land is under survey number 121 of Chinnakkanal village. Officials noted that the distributed title deeds covered a total of 30 acres of land.“The titles were issued for land holdings ranging from two cents to 60 cents. The families in the area have been eagerly waiting to get their title deeds for several years. In Chinnakkanal village, titles are being distributed after a long gap of 25 years,” an official added.The title deed preparation process was led by the village officer and special village officer Gulsari Lal.
