There is demand from local farmers and other producers to airlift consignments from Mundra,” said Rakshit Shah, executive director, Adani Ports & SEZ.He said this airport will create a powerful synergy between the Group’s port and aviation operations. The Mundra Airport has a 1,900-metre runway capable of handling a wide range of passenger and cargo aircraft.Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airports Ltd., while speaking on the occasion, said a lot of people from Mundra are excited about the regular flight operations. “We significantly want to be a part of the aviation economy. Over the next 5 year we plan to invest ₹90,000 crore to ₹ 1 lakh crore across all the airports,” he said.He said to begin with, the demand for flights will be from the stakeholders, employees and the locals who have generated a significant wealth. It will also be convenient for them. In addition, it will also be used by the tourists coming to Mandvi beach,” he said.Since the Bhuj Airport which is a defence airport has skeletal connectivity, the Adanis want to build from there.(The writer was in Mundra at the invitation of Adani Airports Ltd.)
