Hospital adopts Pulse Field Ablation to treat complex heart rhythm disorders

Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, has introduced Pulse Field Ablation (PFA), a new treatment for irregular heartbeats, and has successfully performed the procedure on two patients aged 31 and 84.PFA is mainly used to treat atrial fibrillation, a common condition in which the heart beats irregularly. Unlike conventional procedures that use heat or extreme cold to destroy the abnormal heart tissue causing the irregular heartbeat, PFA uses short electrical pulses to target only the affected tissue. This helps protect nearby healthy organs, makes the procedure safer and allows patients to recover faster.Senior cardiac electrophysiologist Dr. M.S. Chandramouli said the technology allows doctors to treat irregular heart rhythms more precisely while reducing the risk of damage to surrounding healthy tissue, making the procedure safer for patients.
