Father, daughter die in suspected suicide in Kunnamkulam
The man’s wife and son are undergoing treatment in a critical condition. The deceased were identified as Sibi, 52, and his daughter Aleena, 19, of Madakkanaykkal House, Pazhanji. Sibi’s wife Beena, 42, and son Adithyan, 18, were admitted to hospital after they were found to have consumed poison.According to the police, the incident came to light around 5.20 a.m. Sibi and Aleena were found dead in their house in a suspected suicide. Adithyan, after the family allegedly attempted suicide, alerted the Kunnamkulam police. He and his mother, who had also consumed poison, were initially taken to the Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital. After providing first aid, Beena was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Thrissur, while Adithyan was moved to a private hospital in the city.Police said Sibi had returned from the Gulf on July 11. Preliminary investigations indicate that the family may have been driven to the extreme step by acute financial liabilities. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
