Minor earthquake strikes Krishnagiri district
0 on the Richter scale struck Krishnagiri district at 7.52 p.m. on Wednesday (July 15, 2026).Citing data from the National Centre for Seismology, the Regional Meteorological Centre said the earthquake originated at a depth of 10 km, with its epicentre located in the Denkanikottai-Hosur region of Krishnagiri district, near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.Officials noted that a seismic event of such magnitude is classified as a minor earthquake and may be felt by people in areas close to the epicentre, including in and around Krishnagiri, Hosur and adjoining areas of Karnataka.However, minor seismic events generally do not cause structural damage.
