City hospital launches integrated robotic surgery programme

Kauvery Hospital has launched Kauvery 3X Chennai, an integrated robotic surgery programme that brings together robotic surgical services across its three hospitals in the city under a common framework of multidisciplinary care and standardised clinical protocols.The programme will use the fourth-generation da Vinci robotic surgical system and will cover multiple specialties, including gastrointestinal surgery, surgical oncology, urology, gynaecology, and kidney transplantation.The programme will support robotic-assisted procedures for gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers, gynaecological and breast cancers, urological cancers, hysterectomy, endometriosis, fibroid surgery, ovarian procedures, prostate and kidney surgeries, bladder and reconstructive urological procedures, thyroidectomy, hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, colorectal surgery, and upper gastrointestinal procedures.The hospital said one of the programme’s focus areas would be robotic kidney transplantation, alongside other minimally invasive procedures for complex surgical conditions.Aravindan Selvaraj, co-founder and executive director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said the initiative aimed to provide patients with access to robotic surgery across multiple specialties at the group’s Chennai hospitals while maintaining uniform standards of care. He added that the programme reflected the hospital’s investment in surgical innovation and multidisciplinary care, with the goal of improving patient outcomes and expanding access to advanced surgical treatment.
