Always consult your health or fitness practitioner before starting any routine. Explaining the injury in detail, Mandanna further wrote: “But well umm the injury is basically.. ummm how do I explain it.. (make way for the biology teacher🙋🏻♀️🐒🤣) so there are 4 tendons on each side of your hip that connects your hip to your leg and one of those tendons on my right hip apparently had detached and that has to attach again, for me to be able to lift my leg up and stuff.. and this happened during my dance shoot for Mysaa.. my god that’s the most aggressive film I’ve ever done for sure!🤣🤣❤️But don’t worry.. it hurts but it’s not unbearable or something.. so ya that’s that..” What happens when your hip tendon gets detached? Dr M S Somanna, Sr. Consultant – Joint Replacement & Arthroscopic Surgery, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, explains that tendons are strong tissues that connect muscles to bones and help the hip move smoothly during activities such as walking, running, climbing stairs and exercising. According to him, a hip tendon injury happens when one or more of the tendons around the hip become inflamed, overstretched or partially torn due to excessive strain or sudden movement. “These injuries are common among athletes and fitness enthusiasts, but they can also affect anyone after a fall, an awkward twist, repetitive movements or a sudden increase in physical activity. People with weak hip muscles, poor flexibility or improper exercise techniques may have a higher risk,” he tells indianexpress.com. Watch out for… According to Dr Somanna, the most common symptoms include “pain around the hip or groin, tenderness, stiffness, difficulty walking, pain while climbing stairs, reduced range of movement and discomfort when standing up after sitting for a long time”. Some people may also notice swelling or weakness in the affected leg, he mentions.Story continues below this ad Prevention and treatment “Many hip tendon injuries can be prevented by warming up before exercise, stretching regularly, strengthening the muscles around the hips and core, wearing proper footwear and gradually increasing the intensity of physical activity instead of doing too much too soon,” says Dr Somanna, adding that maintaining a healthy body weight and using the correct exercise technique also help reduce stress on the hip tendons. Treatment depends on the severity of the injury. Dr Somanna shares that mild cases, like Mandanna’s, usually improve with adequate rest, avoiding activities that worsen the pain, applying ice packs during the first few days and taking prescribed pain-relieving or anti-inflammatory medicines if needed. “Physiotherapy plays a key role in recovery by improving flexibility, strengthening the hip muscles and restoring normal movement,” he concludes.Story continues below this ad DISCLAIMER: This article is based on information from the public domain and/or the experts we spoke to. New DelhiAug 4, 2026 02:56 PM IST Expert on whether it's safe to inject anesthesia to people who snore (Photo: Magnific)If you’ve ever undergone surgery, you may have noticed an unexpected question during your pre-anaesthesia assessment: “Do you snore?” At first, it might seem unrelated to the procedure. After all, what does snoring have to do with anaesthesia? But according to Dr Sulaiman Ladhani, Consultant Pulmonology, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central, “While occasional snoring can be harmless, frequent or loud snoring may be an early sign of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition that can increase the risk of breathing problems during and after surgery.DISCLAIMER: This article is based on information from the public domain and/or the experts we spoke to. Always consult your health practitioner before starting any routine. Why do anesthesiologists ask about snoring? “Snoring doesn’t have to be harmless since in certain individuals it may be a sign of a narrowed or partially blocked airway while asleep, leading to the possibility of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA),” explains Dr Ladhani. “Such people are more prone to experiencing breathing interruptions, having lower oxygen levels at night, and being at a greater risk of difficult airway management and breathing-related complications both during and after anaesthesia,” he explains. This is why the anaesthesia team routinely asks about snoring; it helps identify patients who may require extra precautions before, during, and after surgery. Can loud snoring indicate undiagnosed sleep apnea? “Loud and habitual snoring, particularly when it is associated with choking during sleep, episodes of stopped breathing, or excessive drowsiness during the day, is a common indication of OSA,” says Dr Ladhani.Story continues below this ad General anesthesia and certain pain medications relax the muscles that normally help keep the airway open. In people with undiagnosed OSA, this can make airway obstruction more likely. “While under general anesthesia and with the use of pain medications, the muscles which keep the airway open relax even more, thus raising the chance of airway obstruction and breathing difficulties,” he explains. Knowing this beforehand allows the anesthesia team to tailor the anesthetic plan, choose appropriate pain management strategies and monitor the patient more closely during recovery. Can snoring be a reason to avoid general anesthesia? “Surgery is seldom put off simply because of snoring; the decision is based on the patient’s total risk level, the severity of their symptoms, and how urgent the operation is,” says Dr Ladhani. However, if the surgery allows, doctors may sometimes opt for regional anesthesia instead of general anesthesia.Story continues below this ad “In certain cases, regional anesthesia might be chosen instead of general anesthesia if it is clinically suitable. The decision, however, depends on the kind of surgery and the patient’s condition,” he explains. For patients with diagnosed or suspected sleep apnea, anesthesiologists may also:

According to reports, Rashmika sustained a complete tendon detachment in her hip after pushing through back-to-back action and dance schedules across her upcoming films Ranabaali and Mysaa.Crew members reportedly rushed Rashmika to a nearby hospital after the injury occurred on set. Doctors who examined her were surprised by the severity of the damage, stating that the kind of tendon detachment she suffered is more commonly seen in professional athletes who undergo intense physical training. She has been advised six weeks of complete rest followed by a structured rehabilitation programme to restore strength and mobility. Speaking to veteran journalist Subhash K Jha, Rashmika confirmed that she had sustained the injury. “It is true. But I am getting better. Thank you for checking in.” Rashmika Mandanna is the latest actor to suffer an on-set injury. Just ten days before her setback, veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna suffered a left knee injury while filming an action sequence with Manchu Manoj at Kakinada Port for his upcoming film NBK 111, directed by Gopichand Malineni. The 66-year-old actor slipped and twisted his leg during a high-voltage fight scene and was airlifted to AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad. Preliminary examinations revealed swelling, a blood clot near the injured area and a suspected muscle tear. He underwent a three-hour knee surgery, which was successful, and is currently recovering under medical supervision. The injury worsened over the years during political rallies and public engagements. Both shoulders require surgery, with the right shoulder addressed first and the left expected to follow within two months. His wife Anna Konidela shared an emotional Instagram post during his recovery, writing, “His burden in life has always been far heavier than his physical pain. He rarely complains.” The spate of injuries has reignited concerns about the physical demands placed on actors, with increasingly elaborate action and dance sequences becoming the norm in the post-Baahubali, post-RRR era.
