Fire and Rescue Services personnel and local residents rescuing workers who were trapped in a roadside landslip at Kothankara near Cheruvathur in Kasaragod on Tuesday. | They were later rescued and shifted to a private hospital at Cheruvathur. None of them is reported to be seriously injured.The incident occurred around noon when a portion of the roadside embankment caved in, burying the workers who were engaged in the construction of a house near the road.The injured are Ashokan and Vijesh of Karivellur and Ashokan of Maniyat.Eyewitnesses said the workers were buried up to their necks under the debris. Residents rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts before personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services from Cheemeni and Nadakavu arrived and took over the operation.Rescue teams worked cautiously to extricate the trapped workers safely as there was a risk of further landslip due to the continuing rain. Following several hours of effort, the workers were safely pulled out from the debris and taken to hospital.Meanwhile, the authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as heavy rain continues in the area.
