Delhi government inaugurated 25 new Atal Canteens serving meals for ₹5, bringing the total to 100. Launched on Atal Bihari Vajpayee's death anniversary, it aims to provide affordable food to one lakh people daily. As a tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, this launch coincided with his death anniversary. At these canteens, meals will be served twice a day for ₹5.Following the inauguration, Rekha Gupta in a post on Instagram wrote, “A promise to Delhi, delivered. 100 Atal Canteens will now serve nutritious, hygienic meals to nearly 1 lakh people every day for just ₹5. A humble tribute to Atal Ji and a promise to Delhi that no one should sleep hungry and every meal should come with dignity.”M Venkaiah Naidu lauded this initiative which aims to provide affordable and nutritious food to the poor, people living in slums, workers and those coming to Delhi from different parts of the country in search of employment. Delhi CM said these canteens evoke the spirit of Antyodaya and emphasized that the canteen launched in the university area will provide affordable and nutritious food to needy students.Under this scheme, around one thousand meals per day will be offered by each canteen to workers, needy people, daily wage labourers and other people belonging to low-income groups. This implies that one lakh people per day and 3.65 crore people per year will be able to access ₹5 meals. Notably, around 95 lakh subsidized meals have so far been provided to the public, since the launch of the Atal Canteens on 25th December last year. A CISF personnel has been suspended and an inquiry ordered after a woman allegedly accused him of photographing her inside a Delhi Metro coach near AIIMS. The confrontation later escalated into a scuffle with passengers.The confrontation subsequently escalated, with passengers allegedly preventing the CISF personnel from leaving the coach.(Screengrab/X)A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel has been suspended and a detailed inquiry ordered after a woman allegedly accused him of photographing her inside a Delhi Metro coach, leading to a confrontation which escalated into a scuffle between the personnel and passengers.The incident reportedly took place on Sunday near AIIMS Metro Station and was captured on video that has since gone viral on social media.The video shows the woman confronting the CISF personnel after alleging that he had taken her photographs inside the coach. The personnel can be seen initially denying the allegation. However, passengers checked his phone and found photographs of the woman in his gallery.Video shows scuffleThe passengers then demanded that the photographs be deleted. A video further shows the commuters confronting the personnel and asking him to remove the images from his phone.The confrontation subsequently escalated, with passengers allegedly preventing the CISF personnel from leaving the coach. A scuffle then broke out inside the Metro.CISF suspends personnel, orders inquiryThe CISF said it had taken the matter "with utmost seriousness at the highest levels" and confirmed that the concerned personnel had been suspended with immediate effect."A matter has been reported regarding the alleged misconduct by a CISF personnel towards a female passenger in a metro train. The CISF has viewed this with utmost seriousness at the highest levels. The concerned personnel has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, and a detailed inquiry has been ordered. Further appropriate action will be taken based on the findings," the post on X read.According to reports, the incident was also reported to the Metro Police. A police team reached the spot and subsequently informed the CISF authorities about the allegations made by the woman and other passengers.
